The Tell-Tale Heart
For this project I worked with the Voice and Articulation class at Michigan Tech. The professor wanted someone to record and sound design the students' reading of Edgar Allen Poe's The Tell-Tale Heart. While working with the voice actors I realized that the overall arch of tension was different for each actor. There was a continuity of sound design elements in all the recordings but I added a uniqueness to each recording to enhance the rise and fall of tension that each individual actor added. This is a mix composed of the finished products.
3662 Hip Hop EP
My friend Collin Doerr-Newton and I made a hip hop EP. Since it was his idea he was in charge of the project but I helped with all the aspects of the production. We collaborated every step of the way. Eat Lightning, Crap Thunder was the song I had the largest factor in because I composed the beat. The 3 song EP can be heard here. I was also the bassist for all of the songs.
Superior Winds Recording
I was the recording engineer for the Fall 2012 Superior Winds concert. Here are some clips from the songs they performed. My favorite song was with a special guest singer that used overtone singing. I used a microphone great for the recording but it did not work as well for the live performance. The mixing engineer wanted higher levels for the voice and in doing so he created feedback during the song. I used iZotope RX3 plugins to remove the feedback. The remove hum plugin helped greatly and the denoiser helped remove some of the crowd sounds.
Keweenaw Symphony Orchestra and Concert Choir Dona Nobis Pacem Concert
I helped record mix and master Keweenaw Symphony Orchestra and Concert Choir Dona Nobis Pacem Concert. There was an orchestral section and a choir concert. At the end they performed Dona Nobis Pachem together. I worked with both conductors during the mixing stage to the the mix they wanted.
Waisting Time by Courtney Schumaker
I produced, recorded, and mixed this song. This helped me become familiar with these multiple aspects of making a song.
